Andrew Tomlinson has over 25 years’ experience acrossDefence aviation, having served in both the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm and as acommissioned officer in the Royal Air Force, bringing extensive operational,engineering and leadership experience across military aviation, capabilitydelivery and Defence support. Andrew now serves as Deputy Capability Director,supporting the continued evolution of Capability across the business throughworkforce capability development, strategic alignment to emerging Defencepriorities, and maturation of the organisation’s Capability framework.
I have over 40 years’ experience in Defence, including 25 years experience as an engineering officer in the REME. I also have 18 years’ experience working in industry (post military career), both in Defence, Rail, Aircraft Safety, the Traffic Management industry and within three Consultancy companies.
With over 10 years experience working in aviation, I have served in the Royal Navy and the RAF as an aircraft engineer on both rotary wing and fixed wing airframes. This allowed me to gain valuable experience within all aspects of the domain, such as rear crew of helicopters, ground crew duties, writing and development of technical documentation, leading and mentoring teams, and individuals, and providing essential maintenance for the sustainability of different aircraft types and marks.
